The Thrill of Falconry Comes to RES Success
Earlier this month, the community-based programs at RES Success met up with Kate Marden, the owner of West Coast Falconry, for a special demonstration with her feathered friends — a hawk, a falcon, and an owl!
We had a great time meeting these amazing creatures and learning about how they live in the wild and how people have lived with them throughout history.
We saw them fly through the room, and some of us even stood right by the falconer so they went right over our heads! It was a pretty special encounter with nature for all of us!
At the end of the demonstration, several of us got our pictures taken with the owl. We think you’ll agree, he’s an especially handsome bird!
The community-based programs chose to have a falconry exhibition because some of the people who participate in the program have a life-long love of wild animals and especially birds of prey! We all had a great time sharing their passion and excitement about these wonderful creatures.
At RES Success, our activities are directed by the goals and interests of the people we support. This makes each program a unique expression of the people who participate in it — and each day an exciting adventure!
