The main objective of RES SUCCESS is to modify behaviors that prevent
individuals from achieving their fullest potential – both emotionally
and physically. RES SUCCESS assists students in developing new communication
skills, maximizing relationships with peers and family, understanding
and believing in themselves, and increasing interests in the arts, recreational activities, and educational and vocational pursuits. In the development
of the whole person, the students will discover how they can become
successful in their interpersonal relationships and in the community
at large.
To accomplish these pursuits, RES SUCCESS has developed a model of treatment
that enhances teaching methods and provides opportunities for the attainment
of skills. As such, the potential for social development, cognitive
enhancement and quality-of-life improvement must be present before maladaptive
behaviors can be supplemented with adaptive ones. Since the staff has
such a positive influence on student behavior, we implement training
so that the proper techniques can be employed for skill-replacement
strategies.
Since RES SUCCESS understands that our students have significant biological
challenges that cannot always be altered with cognitive behavior modification
programs, we offer them individual and group therapy. It is in this arena
that students learn appropriate ways to express themselves and to live
in the world with their disability. By engaging in typical community
activities, we are advancing the normalization of our students and educating
the community at large. RES SUCCESS has discovered that to succeed in
society, all individuals need to succeed in at least a few activities
and have at least one person who wholeheartedly believes in their success.
Our purpose is to support each student to achieve behavioral self-control
and communication skills to progress toward his/her highest level of
independence and self-reliance.
