RES SUCCESS provides day-treatment programs for adults with mental retardation, autism, and other developmental
disabilities. Nearly all of our clients also suffer from mental health
and/ or extreme behavioral challenges, such as schizophrenia and obsessive-compulsive
disorder. Sadly, people like these often slip through the cracks in
the healthcare system and are warehoused in state institutions. We
have proven that there is a better way.
For
more than a decade, RES SUCCESS has offered an enriched environment
for this vulnerable population. Through intensive behavior modification
therapy, individuals learn to replace disruptive behaviors with more
appropriate life skills in order to get their needs met.
The
RES SUCCESS treatment model aims to reduce the frequency, duration
and intensity of maladaptive behaviors and empowers our students to
lead safer, more independent, more productive lives. Our approach emphasizes
education and exposure to meaningful life-learning experiences, including
art, music and dance. Students who are able to express themselves creatively
through art exhibit fewer volatile social behaviors, and improve their
self-esteem.
The majority of our approximately $2.2 million annual
budget comes from the California State Department of Developmental
Services. We also rely on private donations to maintain
our quality program, in part through our annual fundraiser “Artistry
for Autism.”
RES
SUCCESS is a non-profit organization and was founded by Ian Bremner
in 1994. We serve about 95 students each year.
